Class Descriptions
We offer classes in many different genres and styles to give dancers the opportunity to become well-rounded in their dance education. Dancers are always encouraged to take their favorite styles, and to explore styles they have never tried before as well. Our staff are highly skilled in the genres of dance they teach, and each have unique knowledge in these styles of dance that will make classes fun, and memorable for the entire season!
For more information about the specific styles of dance we offer, refer to the class descriptions. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
-
Learn how to tumble, flip, and roll with our very popular acrobatics class! Our youngest dancers will learn to master the forward roll, back bend, and flexibility! Our more experienced dancers will build their skills to limbers, round-offs, front and back walkovers, aerial skills as well as some contortion.
-
Ballet is the foundation of most dance forms, characterized by grace, precision of movement, and elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses. Dancers will go through barre work, center combinations, and across the floor, with exercises designed to mold strength and technique. Students will learn proper body alignment, balance, precise footwork and arm placement while increasing flexibility and strength.
-
Our combo classes are designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of dance. Typically jazz, tap and ballet.
-
Contemporary is a dance style that explores movement, space, rhythm, and the dancer's own creativity with emphasis on momentum, shapes and patterns. This form of dance is inspired by nature, music, art and human emotions. Contemporary dance is a fusion of ballet, jazz, lyrical and modern dance styles.
-
A style of dance which evolved from street dancing styles, students learn to combine a variety of freestyle movements, while developing coordination and musicality.
-
Jazz dance combines the technique of ballet, with style and fun! Beginning with a full warm up, dancers will then learn progressions across the floor, jumps, turns, and of course an energetic combination.
-
Lyrical is the perfect combination of technique, storytelling, and artistic expression. Lyrical is based around the interpretation of the music and routines are based around feeling the movement deeply and expressing the dancer’s emotion.
-
Musical Theater is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. Classes incorporate the style of dance one would typically see on a Broadway stage. This form of dancing emphasizes learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions.
-
Students will learn a variety of steps, with emphasis placed on crisp, clear sounds and proper body position and balance. As students progress, they will learn advanced combinations and rhythm patterns. Tap helps students develop rhythm, coordination and timing as well as allowing them to make music with their feet.
